Project studies

The studies will gather regional data on existing environmental baseline conditions within the Crowsnest Coalfield. These studies are critical components of the project’s three to five year appraisal and design stage. Findings will be incorporated into a BP-mandated Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA).
This assessment will help BP determine if we can do this project in an environmentally sound manner. We are committed to taking a staged, methodical approach to ensure that we collect comprehensive data that can be incorporated into our ESIA.

We are also conducting a data review of available air quality information and will use this to develop an appropriate baseline program.
Focused, site-specific assessments will also be conducted on the lease sites once potential drill locations are identified. This will ensure that potential social and environmental impacts at these sites are identified and avoided or mitigated.
