The training and induction processes for directors are evolving to take into account the development of the group and applicable
governance standards. Directors receive induction on their appointment to the board as appropriate. Throughout their period in
office the directors are updated on BP's business, the environment in which it operates and other matters.
The board has continued its annual evaluation processes
to assess its performance and identify areas in which the effectiveness of the board, its policies or process might be enhanced.
Board committees have begun to conduct more structured evaluation of their performance annually, leading to refinements to their
processes, composition and work programmes.
