Our diverse team of experts deliver projects that make a difference
GBS Australia and New Zealand provides us with business services such as human resources, customer service and procurement. Brisbane, Melbourne, Karratha, offshore Western Australia and Burnie are just a few of the many locations our professionals work in. The diversity of our activities is reflected in our workforce of more than 7,000 people. We take on people from a range of backgrounds – talented men and women who bring their own particular strengths and personalities to an environment that fosters trust and collaboration. Our Downstream business in Australia includes Kwinana refinery in Perth. Kwinana has a capacity of over 140,000 barrels of crude oil per day and is located within a few kilometres of the city, making it equally appealing from a professional and lifestyle perspective. We have more than 20 fuel terminals located around the country. Our storage capacity and distribution reach allows us to serve our customers through a combination of road, rail and marine transportation options. Castrol, a BP brand, produces some of the world’s best lubricants. Its products are synonymous with quality – Castrol’s motor oils are particularly well known, but Castrol also makes lubricants for every conceivable application on land, at sea and in the air. Our Kwinana refinery also developed and produces Opal fuel, a low-aromatic unleaded petrol which has been a key success factor in reducing petrol sniffing in remote communities. We sell consumer fuels and lubricants through our network of almost 1,400 retail sites across Australia. BP Ultimate is the highest quality automotive fuel product available in Australia. Our upstream work includes the North West Shelf Venture which accounts for 80% of Australia’s liquefied natural gas production (LNG) and almost 25% of Australia’s crude oil production. Our work in the Great Australian Bight, off the coast of South Australia, could lead to some of the most exciting hydrocarbon discoveries of the 21st century, opening up a completely new deepwater oil and gas province. It’s an incredible opportunity, not just for BP but for the whole of Australia.
Our retail employees are the reason we're one of Australia's leading convenience retailers. As skilled company ambassadors, our retail employees are great at managing a business, honest, take safety seriously and keep our customers coming back for more.
With about 1300 locations throughout Australia, we employ people in our service stations, Wild Bean Cafes and shops.

Australia is widely regarded as a wonderful place to live given the climate, size and diversity of the country. Outdoor lifestyle, dining and entertaining is a huge part of our culture. Sport and outdoor recreation go hand in hand with most families and individuals – from surfing, swimming, cycling, beach activities to team sports plus the arts and entertainment festivals. We have employees in over thirty locations across Australia. Our head office is in Melbourne, a city that is often reported to have the highest quality of life in the world.
Melbourne is the cultural capital of Australia, offering a variety of sporting events to watch or participate in, festivals of art and entertainment, extensive shopping options, an enviable food and café culture surrounded by large parks and beautiful gardens. Melbourne’s infrastructure, cycling and public transport schemes and economic prosperity contribute to its reputation as a superb place to live. Sydney is home to the Australian wing of our Castrol lubricants business. It is the largest city in Australia and one of the most cosmopolitan and attractive cities in the world, with an enviable lifestyle. The Kwinina Refinery is located in Perth. Here, you can enjoy a lifestyle that is dominated by the miles of pristine sandy beaches that surround the city. This is where most locals tend to spend their free time, although there are plenty of other things to do in the city, including shopping, restaurants and a celebrated live music scene.
