Through our Castrol brand, we have been associated with India since 1909 and Castrol India Ltd is a leader in the Indian lubricant industry. Castrol products and services are aimed at the automotive, marine, industrial and power generation sectors, as well as offshore drilling, and are available at more than 90,000 retail outlets.
Through our partnership with Reliance Industries Ltd, we have a 30% share in 21 oil and gas production sharing contracts in India. We also have an equal share in India Gas Solutions Limited, a joint venture to source and market gas in India.
We are a recognized leader in the development of technology for the petrochemicals industry. That’s why we’ve licensed our proprietary technology to two Indian companies and are committed to developing innovations that will help India’s petrochemicals sector to develop and compete globally.
With a vibrant oil market in India, our trading teams trade crude oil, bulk chemicals and petroleum products with Indian counterparties.
Global teams based in India
As well as running safe and reliable local operations, we have teams based in India that manage a number of activities for our global business.
By transferring technology, knowledge and expertise, we’ve been able to outsource our global information technology, finance and procurement functions to India.
We also administer jobs for BP Maritime Services (BPMS). Employing more than 1,000 officers around the world, BPMS operates all BP ships, from crude oil and product tankers to liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers.
