In numbers: the PSVM project in Angola
Production has started at the PSVM development area in Block 31, some 400 kilometres offshore Angola
PSVM consists of four oilfields - Plutão, Saturno, Vénus and Marte – all discovered between 2002 and 2004 in water depths of up to 2,000 metres. It is the second BP-operated development in Angola.
PSVM oil is produced through a converted hull, floating, production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) and is the first FPSO in Angola ultra-deep water. Initial production will come from three wells located in the Plutão field with additional production coming online during 2013 and 2014. To date, 19 discoveries have been announced in Block 31.
BP’s partners in the block are Angolan national oil company Sonangol, Statoil , Marathon and SSI. Sonangol is the concessionaire. BP has worked with Angola since the mid-1970s and has interests in nine blocks altogether.
