BP is extremely proud to be a Corporate Friend of the Superhero Series. The Superhero Tri powered by npower is the UK’s one and only disability sport event for the Everyday Superhero and their friends and family
As a corporate friend BP will be entering 3 teams for this inspirational event. The teams, made up of three people, will each take on one stage of the Superhero Tri challenge – a swim, a bike ride or a run/push in a choice of two distances. To enter each team must have at least one person who considers themselves to have a disability (any disability counts) per team.
Between 2008 - 2016 BP has been a proud partner of the British Paralympic Association. We were there at London 2012 to cheer on the remarkable performances by ParalympicsGB and we continued our support for them through to Rio. This year we are also proud partners of International Paralympic Athletics Championships in London.
BP’s support for Superheros therefore builds on our support for disability in sports with the aim of encouraging Diversity and Inclusion in society and in schools.
Sophia Warner Superhero Series founder, says “The idea is simple. To create fun, gutsy events where people with disabilities call the shots and don't have to worry about cut-off times or equipment restrictions. If you need flippers or floats in the water, or want to use your powered wheelchair we make it possible."
“For the first event I’ve chosen triathlon challenges because swimming, cycling and running are the three most popular disability sports. But I don’t want people to be put off by the word ‘triathlon’. You can do a whole triathlon if you wish, but you can also choose to do just one or two stages as a relay with disabled and non-disabled family and friends.”
“I know first-hand what a hugely positive impact sport can have on a person’s life and I believe everyone should have the chance to enjoy momentous and often life-changing events.”
