Global crude runs increased by 1.8 million b/d or 2.4%
The non-OECD accounted for 85% of the crude run growth and for the first time, more than 50% of global throughputs. OECD crude runs grew for the first time since 2004, but were still below the level last reached in 1996. Global refinery capacity utilization rose to 81.5%.

Methodology

Refinery throughputs are based on the quantity of crude and condensate processed in atmospheric distillation units and condensate splitters.
