Target Neutral plays an important part in helping make London 2012 the most sustainable Games possible. LOCOG has also developed the most lightweight Olympic Stadium to date using recycled materials, created 45 hectares of new wildlife habitats and open green space for London, and has pledged to contribute zero waste to landfill over Games time to achieve this ambitious goal.
Figures as at 8am GMT 9th August 2012For a live barometer of journeys and CO2 emissions offset to date see www.bptargetneutral.com/mpc/. More information can be found online at www.bptargetneutral.com/london2012 or on the Facebook page BPtargetneutral.*Source: Environmental Resources Management (ERM), 2012Notes to EditorsAs a Sustainability Partner and the Official Carbon Offset Partner, BP Target Neutral is offsetting the carbon footprint of all ticketed spectators travelling to the Games free of charge, as well as for a number of national teams including Team GB, Team Trinidad and Tobago, Team UAE and Team USA.Launched in September 2011, the Target Neutral Olympics programme is setting out to create a world record for the most number of people offsetting their travel carbon to a single event - London 2012. So, together with athletes, all London 2012 ticketholders are encouraged to sign-up and BP will offset their travel carbon through Target Neutral at no cost to themselves. |
