Fact sheet

BP Cherry Point Refinery started production in 1971. The refinery is designed to process Alaska North Slope crude. The original engineering design allowed the refinery to process 100,000 barrels of crude per day. Today, over 225,000 barrels can be processed every day and the refinery is the largest in Washington state. Nearly half a billion dollars has been invested over the past 10 years to keep the refinery modern and efficient.
The refinery is located on about one square mile, while the total site covers about 3.75 square miles (2,400 acres).
