Castrol Aviator
Castrol Aviator is a range of aviation piston oils that is available in both Australia and New Zealand
Two types of piston engine oils are marketed: straight mineral and ashless dispersant mineral.
The suffix for each grade of oil corresponds to the viscosity in Saybolt Universal Seconds (SUS) at 100 °C.
The additive mineral grades are identified by the letters 'AD' immediately before the suffix.

Change of oil type
Operators may not always be able to top up with the appropriate grade of Castrol mineral oil, especially in the general aviation sector. Oil mixing is not encouraged due to slight differences in the characteristics of competitors’ oils, but approved aviation oils of the same viscosity grade are compatible and may be used when necessary.If, after a significant period operating on a straight mineral oil, you are required to change to a Castrol Aviator AD ashless dispersant additive grade, you should:
