BPTT Sponsors Future Film Makers

Release date: 09 September 2011
Local film makers will showcase their talents at two upcoming film events thanks, in part, to bpTT.
The first event is the Secondary Schools’ Short Film Festival (SSSFF) which will include the online voting for the BPTT People’s Choice Award for Best Short Film. Secondary Schools across the nation have had teams of 8 students receive training in film techniques over the July/August holiday and have created short films showcasing their acting, directing and film production talents. All films will now have an opportunity to be showcased online and be selected by the public to win the BPTT People’s Choice Award. The winning film will entitle each of the student filmmakers to receive additional training to improve their skills, camera equipment and, of course, recognition for their creative talent.
BPTT is also sponsoring awards for Best Cultural Film, Best Director, Most Creative Film, Best Story, Best Original Music and Best Editing in the Secondary School’s Short Film Festival. By supporting the SSSFF, bpTT is giving young students the opportunity to showcase their creative talent and to provide an avenue for the local culture of Trinidad and Tobago to be archived and documented using modern technology.
All winning films in the SSSFF will be showcased in the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival which bpTT is also sponsoring this year. As part of this sponsorship, the Mayaro Resource Centre will host a “Community Screening” on September 28th featuring a local full length film and a short film created by the Mayaro Composite School. All film enthusiasts are welcomed to attend. BPTT’s sponsorship of the Festival also includes training for film makers across Trinidad and Tobago, a scholarship to a film student to further their creative pursuits and a small display commemorating 100 years of cinema in Trinidad and Tobago.
