- To contribute to social and economic development

- BP employee involvement where relevant and appropriate
- Fewer, larger projects with high community impact. Project alignment with the focus areas

- An emphasis on people rather than things
BP does not support political organizations, religious and sectarian causes, commercial fund-raising agencies, bursaries, individuals, bricks and mortar projects, salaries, rents, accommodation, travel expenses or conferences. Much of BP’s involvement and work is related to the objectives of our business and will be carried out in those areas where BP is most active and has a significant presence.
The kind of projects we have recently been involved in include:
- Job creation: Eziko Cooking School, Langa; Fishing project, Scarborough; Forestry project, George
- HIV/Aids: Soul City moves into Africa
- Road safety: Targeting the youth in Tanzania; Communities for Road Safety, Gauteng
