Eziko Cooking School, Langa
Eziko aims to provide unemployed people with technical, career-orientated skills in cooking and catering. Eziko offers the following courses: basic cooking and catering, basic waitering, part-time baking and catering, micro business, aftercare and placement services. This goal is supported by guidance on how to negotiate a living wage and efforts to find permanent employment for students who wish to work in the formal catering industry. Furthermore the school provides motivation and counselling to promote micro-enterprise growth, especially in the hospitality industry.
BP has donated funds for the building of a resource centre. The resource centre will be a proactive area that will allow for two-way access between the community and role-players. Companies, NGO’s and government organisations will have a venue where they can give out information, hold product launches and awareness campaigns. It is intended that students have access to a variety of information on culinary skills, suppliers and adult education. Eziko will also use the facility to provide care service to graduate students.
