BPTT - Oil and gas exploration and production business
By building on the talent and drive of our people and developing their capability, we aim to build a sustainable local energy company.
We seek above all to do so in a manner which is safe for all of our workforce and for the communities and environment in which we operate. Our goal of delivering a 500 thousand barrel of oil equivalent per day (boed) business will be pursued through strong performance management and execution, applying technology to drive improvements at low cost.
BPTT holds exploration and production licenses covering 904,000 acres in marine areas off Trinidad and Tobago’s east coast. Our total production in 2007 was 450,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, comprised of oil, NGL (natural gas liquids), and gas production. This represented approximately 10% of BP group’s production in 2006.
BPTT’s assets are predominantly developed using the hub and spoke basin development model. In this, processing facilities and other infrastructure are shared. Our offshore production assets comprise nine platforms and the Cassia B hub which processes, at current capacity, 2 billion cubic feet of gas per day (bcfd). Other hubs are Amherstia, with a capacity of 1.1 bcfd and Mahogany with a capacity of 0.9 bcfd. Hydrocarbons are transported ashore by pipeline. The eastern gas fields are served by two major offshore gas transmission service systems. The larger of the systems is owned and operated by bpTT. The other is owned and operated by The National Gas Company (NGC).

The bpTT gas transmission system consists of the 40-inch Mahogany to Beachfield and the 48- inch Cassia to Beachfield gas pipelines. These two pipelines are connected at a subsea valve manifold, at Cassia. Both Amherstia and Cassia have 20-inch spurs to the Mahogany to Beachfield pipeline.
The Immortelle platform has separation facilities and separate gas and liquid pipelines to the Cassia hub. At Cassia, gas can be delivered to the 30-inch NGC pipeline.
The liquids produced are transported to the Galeota Point terminal via the following routes:

The liquids produced are transported to the Galeota Point terminal via the following routes:
- The liquids from the offshore gas processing hubs at Cassia, Mahogany and Amherstia flow via a 12-inch pipeline to the Galeota Point terminal.
- At the Cassia hub, there is the added flexibility to flow liquids via an 8-inch Cassia to Teak pipeline, and to the Galeota Point terminal either through the 16 or 18-inch TSP (Repsol) pipelines.
- A 6-inch pipeline transports the liquids received at Beachfield to the Galeota Point terminal.
