LPG Charity Fund

For 2013 BP Energy Company will once again be a platinum sponsor for the LPG Charity Fund. The LPG Charity Fund's principal objective is to assist members of the LPG and Gas Processing industry during a time of catastrophic medical expenses and/or financial need such as temporary living expenditures or funeral expenses.
Volunteering event at Krause

A Helping Hand at Krause Children's Center

On August 24th, BP Energy Company volunteers tackled renovation projects both inside and outside the Krause Children's Center Katy, TX facility. Krause Center serves as a safe haven for children ages 11-17 who have been removed from their homes or foster placements. Working in small teams, the 68 volunteers installed wall protection along corridor walls, assembled a dozen shelving units, built a 10-foot storage unit, painted and landscaped.


The children signed a welcome banner to show their appreciation for BP’s support over the past six years.

BP Energy Company Looks Again for Krause Center Repair Work Volunteers

Each year volunteers from BP’s North American Gas & Power division have fun in a meaningful way by performing repair work at Krause Children’s Center in Katy, TX. NAGP’s Community Outreach is called for volunteers during late August to form project teams for this day long activity.


This time around, volunteers worked on various tasks including:
  • landscaping
  • tree-trimming
  • painting parking lot stripes/fire lane curbs
  • assembling and installing pre-made cabinets/shelving units
  • building custom cabinets
  • patio brick maintenance
  • installing wall protection in hallway

BP Announces: First Aid/CPR/AED/Fire Extinguisher Courses and Employees Training

BP Energy Company’s NGL employees learned how to provide assistance if someone is choking and to administer basic first aid to a family member, neighbor or even total stranger in need of assistance They also learned how to use a fire extinguisher or defibrillator (AED) as well as learned about the Good Samaritan Law (protection from liability).br/>


As part of BP’s Office Safety Framework, ninety minute safety training sessions were held at BP’s Helios Plaza facility in Houston during 2012 to introduce employees to the basics of CPR/AED/First Aid and Fire Extinguisher usage. Demonstrating personal responsibility for the safety and well-being of others, this training is valuable while at work, home, or out and about. BP staff was reminded that in the event of a fire or medical emergency, they must always call 911 first, then determine whether or not they are willing and capable of providing assistance.

The sessions were conducted to rave reviews by conducted by Sherri Leuhr of Houston based Parachute Consulting.

BP Sells Canadian Assets

During 2011, BP divested a portion of their midstream footprint to include the Canadian NGL business, select Midwest terminals and US Gas Plants and two of five non-core US refineries. Plains All American Pipeline purchased BP Plc’s natural-gas liquids business in Canada for $1.67 billion in cash. The deal’s was completed during the first half of 2012 , to include 2,500 miles of pipelines, 21 million barrels of storage capacity and fractionation plants in Sarnia, Fort Saskatchewan and Empress and will involve the transfer of about 450 staff to the acquirer’s subsidiary, Plains Midstream.

Diversity and Inclusion Speed Networking Event

BP Energy Company has a large and diverse organization. They offered a speed networking event during June 2012 so that employees could make contact with colleagues and discover what others do for NAGP. The event was arranged by BP’s D&I Council and Champions and took place in Helios Plaza. It was a fun, friendly and proven way to help professionals build personal networks.

BP Holds a Diversity Leader Panel Luncheon

BP Energy Company’s Regional Business Leader Orlando Alvarez participated in the BP Asian Network’s panel discussion on leadership during May 2012, held in Helios Plaza town hall. The event was part of a series of events during May celebrating Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month, and promoting cultural pride, capability and leadership at BP. Other event panelists were Felipe Bayon, Head of Special Projects for BP America; Niloy Shah, Chief Financial Officer for the Gulf of Mexico region; and Aleida Rios, VP of Operations for BP’s North America Gas division. BP continues to recruit from diverse groups with meritocracy being the overriding driver for recruitment.

BP Announces Director of the North NGL Team

During April 2012, BP NGL announced Kasib Abdullah as the Director of the North NGL team. Kasib will oversee flow assurance and profit generating activities including sales, marketing, and supply for the Midwest, Great Lakes, and Canadian regions.


Kasib has 20 years experience in the Oil and Gas Industry. His most recent role was Marketing Manager, Midwest Propane. He also has extensive Sales & Marketing experience, having previously held positions of Key Account Manager, Abbott Labs; Central Sales Manager, BP; and Sales Operation Manager, Amoco Oil.


Kasib is a graduate of Tuskegee University and holds an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Keller Graduate School of Management.

Texas Children’s Hospital Volunteer Work

During April of 2012, members of BP Energy Company have once again volunteered to visit with the patients, decorate giant Easter eggs and create gift bags for the children and their guests at the Texas Children’s Hospital.


Dedicated to the health and wellness of children, the Texas Children's Hospital west campus was created to respond to the growing need for expert pediatric health care in West Houston, one of the city's most rapidly growing communities. With a serene, park-like setting, bright and inviting spaces, playrooms on every floor and medical equipment created for children’s needs, the entire facility has been designed with kids and families in mind.

BP Announces Senior VP of NGLs

BP announced the addition of Jim Flavin to the NGL team as Senior Vice President. Jim will be responsible for Trading, Supply & Marketing, and Analytics and started January 16, 2012 reporting to the NGL Chief Operating Officer. Jim comes to BP with 19 years of NGL and Natural Gas experience. After receiving his BS in Finance and MBA from Louisiana State University, Jim began his career as an accountant for Dynegy in 1991, soon moved into Strategic Planning, Commercial Development, and finished his 8 years there as an NGL trader. Jim then moved to LDH Energy where he spent most of his 11 years there managing the NGL trading group but also spent 3 years as the Head of the Natural Gas Trading and Marketing business.br/>

Reporting to Jim will be the NGL Trading, NGL and Sulphur Supply and Marketing and NGL Analytics Teams.

BP Announces Head of Marketing – NGLs and Sulphur

BP announced the appointment of Angela John to Head of Supply & Marketing effective January 6, 2012. Angela reports to Jim Flavin in her new role and is responsible for all NGL and Sulphur Supply and Marketing. She also was responsible for the transition of the CSPU activities during 2011.


Angela has a BS in Chemical Engineering from UH and an MBA from Northwestern. She has over 19 years experience with BP including engineering and supply chain optimization within Amoco Chemicals and commercial experience across BP's trading and marketing businesses. Her commercial roles within IST included physical trading, marketing, and origination in Natural Gas, NGLs, and crude. Angela's background in NGLs includes asset optimization in 2004 and a progression of roles within the business since she rejoined the NGL trading and marketing team in 2009.

North American Gas & Power announces 2012-2013 Mentoring Program

BP Energy Company announced the launch of the 2012-2013 NAGP Mentoring Program. The mentoring program helps 1 year tenured BP employees towards reaching their career potential by accomplishing the following:
  • Focus on people: development, retention and advancement
  • Encourage two-way learning between the mentor and mentee
  • Promote networking/peer neetworking
  • Clearly define goals and objectives for each mentor/mentee pair and create a safe space for open dialogue

During 2011, BP NGL undertook a strategic review to reflect the evolution of the business as a customer focused, service oriented and performance driven marketing and trading entity. Aiming to forge stronger customer relationships and better meet their NGL supply and service needs, BP NGL reorganized their NGL business regionally to maximize capabilities.

BP Announces opening of the Westlake Health and Wellness Center

Integrated with BP’s Wellness Program, BP’s state of the art Wellness Center medical clinic opened during October 2011 for employees, family, retirees and dependents, and BP contractors. Conveniently located in the heart of BP’s WestLake Campus, the largest BP ‘city’ in the world, it is managed by Take Care Health Services, a leader in this segment.


The BP Wellness Center is full service, featuring state of the art medical equipment & facilities, technology and processes. The center promises minimal wait times, enabling increased time with providers. It also features online scheduling, reduced office visit co-pays and is tied to the Aetna insurance network.

Smith Driving Safety Course

The Smith Driving Safety Course is another element of embedding BP’s Office Safety Framework. Each year all office-based workforce employees that drive on BP business must complete an on-line safe and defensive driver training course. Anyone who drives to and from an airport, rents vehicles, or drives to off-site meetings is required to be defensively trained. Smith System® is the leading provider of collision avoidance driver training with a focus on collision prevention through hands-on training. The proven Smith System helps drivers to See, Think and React to driving challenges. BP staff were taught that most collisions are preventable if the right driving habits are learned, practiced and applied consistently.

BP Opens Helios Plaza Office

Located in Houston’s Energy Corridor District at BP WestLake, the Helios Plaza facility a 335,000 sq. ft., six story high - rise opened in February 2010. The building is home to BP Energy Company’s North America Gas and Power business unit and the BP Upstream Learning Center.br/>

Surrounded by nature and built for business, Helios Plaza with space for approximately 1500 occupants, embodies BP’s investment in people while carrying out a commitment to sustainable building practices and energy efficient operations. Helios Plaza is beautiful and smart. High-tech infrastructures and built-for-purpose layouts make it a desirable and productive workspace. BP NGL.com NGLNow Website

NGL.com is the website in which provides the gateway to access the NGLNow.com site. At this time our NGLNow.com site is currently under re-construction.

What are NGL.com and NGLNow?

NGL.com is the website of the BP NGL Business. NGL.com provides general information about industry and will provide the gateway to access the NGLNow.com site. NGLNow is the application within NGL.com that allows our customer, suppliers, partner, BP employees to use the Internet to access comprehensive, secure and customizable information associated with BP's NGL and Sulphur businesses. Users will be able to tailor and download reports pertaining to NGL and Sulphur contracts, product, price, lifting, invoices and movements. Additionally, users can sign up for email notifications.

Why use NGLNow?

NGLNow is currently under re-construction. BP views NGLNow as a service we offer to our customers. NGLNow intent is to bring improved customer service to people who don't have access to the BP NGL systems. NGLNow will enable clients to get information via the web 24 hours a day.
