Using BP Ultimate Diesel continuously can help keep the engine clean and remove existing deposits. Independent standard tests show that BP Ultimate Diesel can increase flow across the injector by up to a remarkable 380% compared with ordinary diesel.
These images show two diesel injector pintles before and after running on BP Ultimate Diesel. The pintle on the left is heavily coated in black, carbonaceous deposits and was taken from an engine that had been running continuously on ordinary diesel. In sharp contrast, the one on the right shows how after switching to BP Ultimate Diesel and running for the equivalent of some 700 km most of the existing deposits have been removed.
Deposit build-up around the injector pintle and nozzle can restrict fuel flow, leading to poor spray quality and adversely affecting the precision of control as fuel is injected into the engine. This in turn can lead to poor combustion. Fuel spray quality is critical to the subsequent combustion process in order that the fuel burns smoothly and completely. An optimum spray pattern is maintained when injectors are kept clean.
