BP Azerbaijan: Stimulating social and economic progress
What we do
Today, offshore Caspian has become one of the world’s leading hydrocarbon provinces. The development of the region’s offshore oil and gas fields and onshore pipelines made Azerbaijan a focal point of the global energy market and a gateway through which international investments reach the Caspian region and beyond.
The developments undertaken include the Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli field, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil export pipeline, the Shah Deniz gas and condensate field and the South Caucasus gas export pipeline. Together, these developments have stimulated social and economic progress in the region. Their success is measured to a large extent by the degree to which their benefits are shared with the people of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey and the region as a whole. These benefits include the revenues these projects generate, enhancement of local infrastructure, development of a high quality workforce, fostering the local supply of materials and services, and investment in communities.
