BP in France
Since 1921 we’ve built our business in France on a solid foundation, serving various sectors of the economy with advanced fuels and solar energy
What we do
BP France runs one of the country’s major oil and energy operations. Our work is diverse. From oil products to retail. From heating and industrial fuels to the bitumen that creates our roads. We also market lubricants and products like liquified petroleum gas. We also provide for specialist industries such as aviation and marine.
We have the one of the larget retail networks in the Paris region with 200 sites. This equates to a 17% market share for the greater Paris region. Nationwide we have 430 service stations.
We have our sights set on the development of renewable energy. We’re also involved in the solar industry and with Apex BP Solar, we are the leading solar engineering company in France, with plans to double sales every year until 2010.
Our people and partners
We employ nearly 2,000 people. We have sites are situated near Paris (Cergy headquarters), Montpellier (Apex-BP Solar headquarters) and Péronne (industrial lubricants plant). We operate at six depots. We have a number of business partnerships with like-minded pioneers in their own industry, such as retail distributor Carrefour, and car manufacturers such as Ford and Volkswagen.
Community investment
For the past four years we’ve been running a road safety awareness campaign at our retail network. As part of this programme we distributed 200,000 free breath analysers to all our service stations customers on New Year's Eve.We also take actively part in the nation-wide Telethon helping raise funds for research on rare genetic diseases. Last year, the 430 strong BP retail network backed by all 2000 staff members of the company helped raise some 310 000 euros for this societal cause.
Working closely in partnership with the French Red Cross Society since 2000, we’ve launched an education programme to teach ‘Life-saving gestures’ to improve first aid training. The campaign is aimed at the general public in France to help raise the overall number of persons trained in life-saving techniques.
