The aviation industry demands the highest standards of quality assurance from manufacturers of aviation lubricants. To ensure that our turbine lubricants meet those high standards, Air BP lubricants developed a layered approach to quality assurance, utilising procedural controls and scientific verification that are shared across all functions of the organisation supporting the aviation product line.
The Aviation Research & Development function maintains strict control of all turbine oils specifications and formulations. No changes or modifications to the manufacturing process or raw material sourcing are allowed without R&D validation and approval.
Our Procurement function negotiates multi-year contractual agreements with approved raw material vendors ensuring security of supply. Vendors are required to provide assurance that each raw material delivery meets our stringent specifications.
Our manufacturing facility is solely dedicated to the manufacture of synthetic turbine oils. No other product is allowed on site. Manufacturing equipment is segregated and dedicated to a specific grade of turbine oils to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. Raw material deliveries are sampled and tested before being received into production. Samples of the raw materials utilised in the manufacture of each batch of BP turbine oil are retained according to specific retain protocols, to ensure full traceability of components.
After the lubricant batches are blended, samples of fully formulated lubricant are tested against the full battery of industry specified batch-release requirements at the on-site laboratory. Additional samples are sent to our R&D group for extended quality analysis that far exceeds industry standards. Our blending and packaging equipment is inspected and serviced according to a rigorous schedule of preventive maintenance to ensure it can support the production demands. Equipment and processes are evaluated periodically by teams of internal and external auditors verifying that all aspects of production are maintained to the highest possible standards.
