Scottish Forest Alliance (SFA)
The SFA vision is based on a 200 year timescale to benefit future generations as the trees mature over this century and beyond
The Scottish Forest Alliance - a partnership between BP, Forest Enterprise, RSPB Scotland and the Woodland Trust Scotland - was launched in 2001. BP's funding pledge of £10 million over 10 years is the biggest ever corporate commitment to the environment in Scotland
The SFA's aim is to create up to 10,000 hectares of new woodland in Scotland - equivalent to twice the area of Stirling and its surroundings. This is one of the largest native woodland regeneration programmes in Scotland’s history and aims to reverse centuries of deforestation and breathe new life into the Scottish countryside, its wildlife and communities.
The BP funding is being used by the other alliance members - Forest Enterprise, RSPB Scotland and the Woodland Trust Scotland on sites owned and managed by these organisations.
