BP Zhuhai Chemical Co. Ltd. (BPZ), a chemical producer of Purified Teraphthalic Acid (PTA), is located in Zhuhai, Guangdong province of China. Zhuhai is located adjacent to Macau and approximately 35 km across the mouth of the Pearl River from Hong Kong.
BPZ is the first Sino-foreign joint venture producing and selling PTA product in China. This joint venture is 85% BP and 15% Fu Hua Group. It has started up the initial operation activities in January 2003 and its annual production capacity is 350,000 tons. BPZ’s producing capacity is capable of reaching 500,000 tons per year. Based on the successful launch of the first phase, BPZ will continue to seek the support from the Chinese government in growing its world-class PTA manufacturing facility.
The first phase of the project adopts BP’s most advanced technology in PTA manufacturing, that is evidenced in the fields of environmental protection, energy saving, raw material consumption and product quality compared with other PTA manufacturers. PTA is a free-flowing powdery product. It can be shipped to customers in bulk using hopper or container trucks, or in one-ton bags loaded on flatbed trucks. BPZ always work with its customers to find the most efficient and economic way in shipment.
Currently, BPZ employs 200 permanent staff and around 150 contractors. BPZ is leading China’s PTA market, in particular in polyester fabrics, textile and membranes supply chain. BPZ is also playing an active role in promoting the economic development and the prosperity of the petroleum industry in Zhuhai and Guangdong province.
