BP U.S. Retail

BP Connect station with AMPM

As a result of a series of acquisitions and mergers, including those with Amoco, ARCO and SOHIO, BP is the second largest gasoline marketer in the United States. Dedicated to producing fuels that help improve automotive performance, efficiency and emissions, BP sells more than 15 billion gallons of gasoline to U.S. consumers each year.

BP products and services may be purchased through 14,000 service stations across the U.S. Of these stations, about 3,500 are company- or dealer-operated, and 10,500 are owned or supplied by jobbers – independent marketers who buy fuel from BP and then transport it to their stations.

Gasolines

BP is committed to providing consumers with high-quality fuels. For 15 consecutive years, BP’s full slate of Amoco-branded gasolines has been rated highest in quality in a national consumer survey conducted by NPD Automotive. Available at stations east of the Rockies, these gasolines are Amoco Regular, Amoco Silver®, and Amoco Ultimate® fuels – which is BP’s market-leading, low-sulfur/lower-emissions premium product.
In California and five other western states (Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington), BP markets high-quality ARCO-branded gasolines through about 1,500 ARCO am/pm® convenience-store stations.
In 2004/5, BP introduced a new grade of gasoline, which effectively lowers nitrous oxide emissions and is available in the Pacific Northwest. BP also introduced Amoco Ultimate® crystal clear premium in some markets – the only gasoline in America that is refined to be clear to the naked eye. With continuous use, the gasoline’s improved engine cleaning formula can help cars achieve peak engine performance and result in less pollution.
According to a recent joint agreement, 2006 model Ford Division cars, pickups and SUVs in the U.S. will bear gas caps recommending BP to customers. This is the first time in the United States a major auto manufacturer has recommended an energy company’s fuel.

Diesel fuel and lubricants

Many BP and ARCO retail outlets (primarily truck stops and stations along Interstate highways) provide motorists with low-emission, low-sulfur diesel fuels such as BP’s ultra-low sulfur and no-sulfur fuels and ARCO ECD-1®.
A variety of motor oils – including BP Select™, BP Special Premium™ 30, Castrol GTX™, Castrol GTX™ Start Up, Castrol GTX™ Diesel, Castrol SYNTEC™ (a synthetic), and Castrol SYNTEC BLEND™ – along with some other automotive lubricants (e.g., transmission fluid, gear oil), are available at BP locations.

ARCO am/pm® convenience stores serve 24 million customers a month in six western states: Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. ARCO is the West Coast's leading retail gasoline brand – the smart choice that gives consumers the same quality gasoline as other majors at a competitive price. And customers love their am/pm® stores, which sell "too much good stuff."

Motor Club

The BP Motor Club, which now includes members of the former Amoco Motor Club, provides motorists with a variety of nationwide benefits, such as 24/7 roadside and lock-out assistance, lodging and car-rental discounts, and trip routing.
Although ARCO does not have a motor club, consumers with computers have access to its online trip-planning service, which highlights any ARCO stations and C-stores that are located along travel route.

Credit Cards

BP offers U.S. consumers a variety of credit cards, including the no-annual-fee BP Gasoline Card, the multi-benefit BP Multicard, the BP Visa card, and the BP Cash card for prepaid purchases.
Although ARCO stations and am/pm® stores do not accept credit cards, motorists can purchase prepaid ARCO PumpPASS gas cards. Or, you can pay at the pump with cash, a debit card or a PumpPASS card using ARCO’s PayQuick® terminals.
