BP prides itself on being a progressive, responsible, innovative and performance-driven operator
In Canada, our success comes from the enthusiasm and dedication of our staff of more than 1,000 employees. Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, we are active in four provinces and the Northwest Territories, while our marketing and trading activities span the nation and expand into the US.

Why BP?

We offer world-class opportunities and the scope to progress and encourage life-long learning through coaching and mentoring, training and education. In addition to personal development, BP offers competitive wages and provides comprehensive benefits plans. Through our Total Rewards program, BP employees also have the opportunity to receive monetary recognition based on outstanding performance.

What we do

Our aim is to operate at the frontiers of the energy industry with a strong commitment to safe and reliable operations. BP Canada explores for, develops, produces and processes natural gas. We also market natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGL). As we move forward, we are committed to exploring a diverse portfolio of new opportunities in order to meet future demand for reliable energy.

Our Noel Major Project in northeast British Columbia is expected to produce 130 million cubic feet of gas per day at peak production, increasing BP Canada’s total production by 30 per cent. The project was recently honoured with the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers’ President’s Award for setting a new industry standard in health and safety, environmental and social responsibility.

We have recently deepened our interest in oil sands; our portfolio now consists of three opportunities suitable for in situ development using steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) technology.
We are undertaking environmental studies in the British Columbia Crowsnest Coalfield to determine whether our Mist Mountain Coal Bed Gas Project can be produced in a safe, economic and environmentally responsible manner.

BP Exploration Company Limited holds three offshore exploration licences totalling over 6,000 square kilometres in the Canadian Beaufort Sea. Seismic data is currently being interpreted to determine if there are commercial quantities of oil and gas under the ocean floor.

Our Integrated Supply and Trading team consists of some of Canada’s top marketers and traders of natural gas. The group is also a major purchaser of Canadian crude oil for BP’s refineries in the United States.

The energy here is different

We look for people with outstanding skills and abilities; people who can use their expertise to promote the innovation central to our business – and to our success. We value talent and encourage growth. Our people benefit from a culture that fosters pride and encourages camaraderie.

We’re committed to a culture of diversity. It helps us attract, develop and retain outstanding talent. We work hard to ensure our selection and assessment processes are free from bias and that we offer access to opportunity for all.
