Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli
The largest oil field under development in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian basin.
ACG is the largest oil field in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian basin. Located about 100 km east of Baku, it is operated by BP on behalf of the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC).
Operations at the ACG field started in November 1997 with the start-up of production from the Chirag-1 platform (Early Oil Project). Central, West and East Azeri complex were developed under Phases 1 and 2 and Deepwater Gunashli portion was developed under Phase 3.
Chirag
An offshore production, drilling and quarters (PDQ) platform located 120km east of Baku in the Caspian Sea. The platform has been in operation since 1997 producing the so-called Early Oil from the Azeri - Chirag - Gunashli (ACG) field. Chirag facilities include:- 24-slot PDQ platform with water injection equipment
- 176km long 24-inch oil pipeline to the receiving terminal at Sangachal
- 48km long 16-inch gas pipeline to the Oil Rocks
- 12km long 18-inch gas pipeline to Central Azeri
- Compression & Water Injection Platform
Central Azeri
An offshore production, drilling and quarters (PDQ) platform located in approximately 128 metres of water 100km east of Baku in the Caspian Sea. The platform has been constructed to produce oil from the central portion of Azeri field. The platform is designed to process 420,000 barrels of oil per day. The Central Azeri facilities include:- a 48-slot Production, Drilling and Quarters (PDQ) platform,
- a 30-inch oil pipeline from CA to the Sangachal Terminal
- a 28-inch gas pipeline from CA to the Sangachal Terminal
- expansion of the existing onshore terminal at Sangachal.
Compression and water injection platform (C&WP)
Bridge linked to Central Azeri platform, C&WP provides water and gas injection services to the Central, West and East Azeri platforms, manage associated gas export and provide electrical power using 10 Rolls Royce turbines. Specifications:- Gas injection/lift capacity: 1 bn standard cubic feet per day (about 29 million cubic meters) utilizing five gas injection wells
- Water injection capacity: 1 million barrels per day utilizing 12 water injection wells
- Gas export capacity: 250 million standard cubic feet per day (7 million cubic meters)
- C&WP has some of the largest water injection pumps and gas injection compressors among all BP platforms.
West Azeri
An offshore production, drilling and quarters (PDQ) platform located in 120 m depth of water 100km off Baku coast in the Caspian Sea. The platform has been constructed to produce oil from the western portion of the Azeri field. The West Azeri facilities include:- a 48-slot Production, Drilling and Quarters (PDQ) platform,
- a 30-inch oil pipeline from WA to the Sangachal Terminal.
East Azeri
An offshore production, drilling and quarters (PDQ) platform located 100km off Baku coast in the Caspian Sea. The platform has been constructed to produce oil from the eastern part of the Azeri field. The East Azeri facilities include:- a 48-slot Production, Drilling and Quarters (PDQ) platform.
Deepwater Gunashli
Deepwater Gunashli (DWG) complex is the third phase of development of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea. ACG field reserves expected to be produced during the PSA period are approximately 176 million tonnes (circa 1.25 billion barrels). First oil from DWG complex was received on 20th of April this year from one of 10 pre-drilled wells. Production will increase through 2008 as other pre-drill wells are brought on-stream, prior to commencing platform drilling. On plateau, the DWG complex will produce approximately 320,000 barrels per day, thus bringing the total ACG production rate to a level of over 1 million barrels per day.The DWG complex is located in a water depth of 175 metres on the east side of the Gunashli field. The complex comprises two bridge-linked platforms:
- a 48-slot drilling, utilities, and quarters (DUQ) platform
- a process, gas compression, water injection and utilities (PCWU) platform.
Deepwater Gunashli has been in operation since April 2008.
