Liquified Natural Gas

British Ruby - one of BP’s new fleet of ‘Gem’ class liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers
BP has a global and experienced liquefied natural gas (LNG) business
We have been investing for more than 30 years, and with our partners we participate across the LNG value chain. BP is committed to continue investing in supply projects, and for customers we are working to develop new entry points to bring cleaner burning gas to key consuming markets.
We explore, develop and supply gas for liquefaction. We develop, construct and operate world scale liquefaction plants, and operate a fleet of modern and industry leading efficient LNG tankers. We access premium markets through our direct participation in LNG regasification projects, and capacity rights to import terminals. Along the chain we apply new technology where it really counts.
LNG is the fastest growing sector of the gas industry. This growth is linked to both increasing global demand for energy, and the declining indigenous gas production in high consuming markets – such as the US and the UK. By transporting gas safely and economically across the globe, and unlocking stranded gas reserves, LNG connects resources to markets to help meet energy demand.
