UK Computing Awards for Excellence 2006
BP's world-class expertise in IT has been recognised at the Computing Awards for Excellence 2006 – the 'Oscars' of the IT industry – where we came a close second in the 'IT Employer of the Year' category and won the accolade for 'Private Sector Project of the Year'.With voting carried out by an independent panel of 12 judges, the Computing Awards for Excellence are highly respected within the industry as rewarding both individual and group achievements and those who have set themselves apart from the crowd.
Although BP scored highly for innovation, pay and benefits, people, culture and style, and training, we were pipped at the post for the 'IT Employer of the Year' award by JP Morgan.

US best energy company to launch a career 2006
BP is the best energy company to launch a career in the US, according to BusinessWeek's September 18 2006 edition. BusinessWeek's analysis, the most comprehensive of its kind, sifts feedback from students, college career counselors, and the employers themselves to reveal which companies offer the biggest advantages for entry-level employees, such as the highest pay, the most rapid advancement, and the best training programs.

Winner: Best undergraduate internship / vacation programmeBP has been recognised for best practice in recruitment, training and development of undergraduate interns, winning this special award in a prestigious industry scheme organised by GTI, the leading specialist graduate careers publisher in Europe, supported by Jobs.Telegraph.co.uk.
Runner-up: Employer of the year
Having won the title in 2005, BP was again shortlisted for this award. This year we were one of five runners-up in a close-run contest.
Runner-up: Sector award for engineering and science
This award, voted for by students, aims to find the most popular graduate recruiters in specific industry categories. In engineering and science, BP was one of six companies short-listed by an independent national online poll earlier this year, which collected over 20,000 votes from penultimate year students, finalists and recent graduates.

UK best short-term placement programme 2007
In the category for companies with over 250 employees, BP beat several leading companies to win the National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) award for best short-term placement programme. The NCWE promotes, supports and develops quality work experience and work-related learning. BP takes around 120 interns annually into UK-delivered summer and year-long programmes, and internships are a critical part of university recruitment activity and corporate renewal strategy.US Best entry-level jobs for college graduates 2007
BP is one of the USA’s best companies for college graduates to launch their careers, according to The Princeton Review. The New York-based education services company recommends BP as one of the great places to work in the new 2007 edition of its annual guidebook, Best Entry-Level Jobs (Random House / Princeton Review Books).This is the third consecutive year that BP has been selected for inclusion in the book – one of just two energy companies featured.
