AberdeenMost of BP's oil and gas exploration and production businesses in the UK are headquartered in Aberdeen, Europe's 'oil capital.'
BP is one of the biggest operators and largest oil producers in the North Sea, producing both oil and gas from a number of offshore locations. BP has been present in the North Sea since the 1970s. Today we operate a number of different assets, which are at different stages in their life cycle.
The Aberdeen office houses employees who support our offshore operations. This includes operational and technical staff as well as commercial and functional support staff. People both onshore and offshore are involved in exploration - to find out whether there are any hydrocarbons not yet developed in the UK waters; appraisal - to determine what has been found; development planning - to decide what to build; development projects - to build facilities; and production.
As our North Sea assets are mature, a lot of work is in the area of production, where people are involved in setting performance targets for production, health and safety, operating efficiency, cost efficiency, people management for offshore operations and working towards achieving these targets.
Central Scotland
At Kinneil, near Grangemouth, BP handles oil and gas processing and transportation for many of the fields in the North Sea. And at Dalmeny, near Edinburgh, BP operates a crude oil tankerage and marine export facility.

Every tonne produced globally by the acetyls business, uses a proprietary process developed in HRTC (Hull Research & Technology Centre) and there are more than 100 patents covering these proprietary technologies.
The site covers approximately 370 acres and has a production capacity of over one million tonnes per year. It is one of the largest manufacturing sites for BP's European Acetyls business, producing more acetic acid than anywhere else in Europe and more ethyl acetate than anywhere else in the world. The location of the site, on the north bank of the Humber Estuary, is ideal for trading with continental Europe.
Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) is the site’s number one priority and is very much a part of the culture; HSSE is seen as part of every employee’s responsibility. Through schemes such as Target Zero, the site aims to have no accidents and cause no harm to people.
The current safety record puts BP, at Saltend, at the forefront of safety within the global chemical industry. Nevertheless, continual improvement is the aim, in order to have the best possible standards and to learn from any incidents either at Saltend or elsewhere.
The workforce consists of highly trained, highly skilled and highly educated people of whom we are incredibly proud. BP at Saltend aims to access and develop its people in order to maintain the company’s capability to deliver on its strategy and plans.

Wytch Farm
Wytch Farm is the largest onshore oilfield in Western Europe. With its estimated 500 million barrels of recoverable oil, it is a valuable asset to the industry and to the local and national economy.
BP Exploration and its partners are proud of their record in developing Europe’s largest onshore oilfield in this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty set in the heart of the Purbecks.
This development has only been possible with the co-operation of the local planning authorities, environmental organisations, various other interested parties and, of course, the public. This successful partnership within Dorset has resulted in several environmental awards being received, including the Queens Award for Environmental Achievement in 1995.

Southeast
CorytonCoryton Refinery is on the doorstep of the London metropolis. The M25 is only minutes away by road tanker and Coryton plays a major role in keeping London's orbital traffic on the move. Coryton's bulk terminal is the largest road distribution terminal in Western Europe, loading about 700 tankers a day to meet 22% of the UK forecourt demand.
Crude oil is purchased on the international markets by BP's traders and arrives at the refinery by ship. Huge cargoes are then pumped ashore and moved into Coryton's 'tank farm' of giant storage tanks. The basic crude, or a blend of crudes, is moved to the process zones where the refining takes place.
Safety is at the core of the refinery's working culture. Our operators are highly skilled and use equipment designed to the highest failsafe specification, ultra sensitive to detecting problems. Most important of all is a safe attitude and safe behaviour from everyone on site.

Facilities in the office include four catering (restaurant and cafe) options, 72 meeting rooms, three treatment (first aid) rooms, shower and locker rooms, ample breakout space, and views over the Millennium Dome and Canada Square Park.
20 Canada Square has received awards for its 'Green Office' initiatives such as its integrated print, copy and archive solutions to minimise paper waste. Wireless operations, and the ‘right sizing’ of mechanical and electrical power (rather than over providing) significantly reduce power use.
It is one of the only trading environments in the world to operate a 'thin-building' design, whereby all major technology hardware, equipment and data storage is housed offsite. This minimises the building's power usage and carbon emissions, as well as maximising data protection.
