The chemicals made by Aromatics and Acetyls can be found around the world and in communities large and small. They’re in CDs, headache tablets and cosmetics. They help keep food fresh and provide fuel for cars.

Aromatics and Acetyls can be found in your community in other ways. Wherever we are based in the world we try to make a difference – not just by what we make but also by what we do.

For example, our Decatur plant in the US is a certified wildlife centre and its Wetlands Edge Environmental Centre is a partnership venture by BP and Decatur City Schools, giving hands-on environmental educational to local children.

In Malaysia, we help run two turtle sanctuaries. Every night during nesting season wardens wait for the turtles to lay their eggs and then carefully transfer them to a hatchery for safe keeping.

In Geel, Belgium we have a Burenplatform, a local community think-thank made up of people from inside and outside the company and the Buren magazine (Buren means neighbours), published by BP in Geel for all who live near the site.

And our Cooper River Plant near Charleston received the prestigious William M. Benkert Environmental Award from the U.S. Coast Guard for Large Business Facility Operations.

Your community is important to us.
