BP in Angola
BP has been involved in Angola since the 1970s. BP has built a strong foundation for long term growth in Angola through both exploration and development success and holds a strong position in nine major deepwater licenses as well as equity in the Angola LNG Project
Technical skills developed in similar deepwater basins around the world have been applied extensively in BP's operations in Angola.
BP’s presence in four major deepwater licenses offshore Angola (Blocks 15, 17, 18, and 31) was further supplemented with access to five deepwater exploration and production blocks in December 2011. In addition, BP holds equity in the first Angolan LNG project. BP’s equity interests in the blocks are shown below:

BP’s first production in Angola began in December 2001 with the start up of the Girassol field in Block 17. Greater Plutonio, BP’s first operated project, started production in October 2007 in Block 18.
