Incident at In Amenas
Between 16 and 20 January 2013, a major security incident took place at the In Amenas gas facility. For regular updates and more details on BP’s response to the incident, visit the Press centre.BP took the precautionary measure to bring non-essential staff out of its operations across Algeria. Its HR teams and others worked to provide medical services, practical help and other assistance as needed. BP is also keeping the security situation across the region under close review.
BP has been operating in Algeria since the mid-1950s and is one of the the largest foreign investors in the country
BP is a partner with Sonatrach and Statoil in the In Salah and In Amenas projects which supply gas to the domestic and European markets.In addition, BP is partner to Sonatrach in the Bourarhat Sud block, located to the South West of In Amenas. In September 2010, the Algerian Government approved an extension to the second prospecting period for this block.
In Amenas Compression

The In Amenas (IA) JV is located in the Eastern Central part of Algeria, approximately 1,300 km from the capital city of Algiers. The In Amenas Compression project is an incremental development to the currently operating wet gas development. The objective of the project is to maintain plateau by improving recovery from the well stock by allowing a larger drawdown to be applied. It consists of construction of a permanent accommodation camp and utility buildings, provision of a new slug catcher, and the addition of two train inlet compressions to the existing Central Processing Facilities (CPF).
In Salah Southern Fields

The In Salah Gas (ISG) JV is located in the central part of Algeria, approximately 1,100 km from the capital city of Algiers. The objective of the project is to maintain plateau production by developing four satellite fields to the South (Garet El Befinat, Gour Mahmoud, In Salah, Hassi Moumene). The scope comprises a new 500 mmscfd Central Processing Facility (CPF), debottlenecking of the Reg CPF, 26 wells, gathering and interfield lines, export pipelines and Phase 2 compression.
