BP has been awarded the right to appraise and develop gas from the Khazzan and Makarem contract area in central Oman which extends to approximately 2800 sq km. The area contains sour gas in low permeability formations, and our plans included seismic testing, conducting an appraisal drilling programme, through to new facilities and evaluating the reservoirs through extended testing. The appraisal programme will last for six years, and if successful will lead to a multi billion dollar full field development.
Complementary to the work programme, we have established an in country project team and we are currently determining our demand for skills in order to build our organisation.
