BP’s commitment
We were one of the first oil majors in Australia to give drivers the choice of renewable ethanol blended fuel. Our supply agreements with Manildra Energy Australia and CSR make us the largest marketer of ethanol-blended fuel in the country – and we continue to look at new suppliers to help grow renewable fuels in Australia. In Australia, our promise is 500 million litres of renewable fuel blends in 2008 alone.
By March 2009, we would have rolled out BP Unleaded 91 with up to 10% renewable ethanol to over 220 stores across QLD, NSW and ACT. At each store, we are replacing our regular unleaded grade with this new renewable fuel blend to give more drivers the choice of better fuels. We are committed to making renewable fuels an everyday fuel choice for Australians.
On a global scale, we’re leading research and developing infrastructure to meet the growing global demand for fuels with less environmental impact. We’ve invested $US500M in an Energy Biosciences Institute, more than $US400M into an advanced renewable fuel facility in the UK, and more than $US90M to research a new fuel source for biodiesel. Our renewable diesel is a world first in advanced renewable fuel solutions. For more than 10 years, we’ve been working to find better solutions to meet the challenges of climate change. And we are dedicated to better fuels for drivers around the world.
