Oil prices roses again in 2008 with dated Brent averaging $97.26 for the year
2008 was another record breaking year for crude, making it the seventh consecutive year that prices have risen. Dated Brent daily oil prices peaked at $144.22/bbl on July 3rd in 2008 and bottomed out at $33.66/bbl on the 24th of December.

Methodology

The key crudes quoted are Brent, West Texas Intermediate (WTI), Nigerian Focados and Dubai in US$ per barrel.

Spot crude price history from 1972 and annual crude price history from 1861 can be found in the Excel workbook.

Rotterdam & US Gulf Coast prices for gasoline, gas oil and heavy fuel oil are included in US dollars per barrel.
