Vision for the Trinidad and Tobago organisation (quoted from Robert Riley)

We have set an aspiration that looks towards achieving a truly Trinidad and Tobago company while at the same time, distinguishing our performance in the way only strong and highly successfully multinationals can. We think of ourselves as a company that enjoys a sort of dual citizenship, in which we are primarily a corporate citizen of Trinidad and Tobago on one hand and a citizen of the world on the other.

We can achieve this by utilising as fully as possible all the human and material resources available to us in this country for growing this company. In so doing we must create a new culture for the company by adopting approaches and behaviours within the organisation that will define us as Trinidadian and Tobagonian in character.
Leaders and citizens of this country will only recognise us a national corporate entity through our behaviour and the positions we take in conducting our business here. They cannot be expected to think of us as a national company simply because we claim to be, or because we have defined this as one of our aspirations.

We have an obligation to respect not only the sovereignty of the laws that govern business operations in Trinidad and Tobago, but we must equally ensure that national cultural norms take precedence over external influences in all our activities.
We must also ensure that every single activity undertaken by us in our business, environmental and social affairs would have a positive impact on the people of Trinidad and Tobago and their national aspirations.

We do not need to lose entirely our identity as a multinational in achieving these stated objectives. Nor must we allow our reach to be a constraint to our progress. We should be proud of these features and bring positive value to Trinidad and Tobago through these characteristics. Our aspirations must be rooted in integrity and good conscience. It is only with honesty of purpose that we can fulfil our aspirations for a new, reinvigorated bp that blends seamlessly into the business landscape.

Our company will be a great place to work. Every employee's contribution and opinion, even though diverse, will be valued.

Our attitude to health, safety and environment will become a core value.
We will deliver superior financial results for the mutual benefit of Trinidad and Tobago and the wider international BP organisation.

We will continue to be scrupulously ethical in our business and social practices and participate in no activity that can ever be an embarrassment to our organisation, now or in the future.

We will also continue to promote an organisational culture that is based on fairness and equality of opportunity for all.

We will be demonstrating a culture of inclusion and consultation with all stakeholders in our exploration, production and industrial enterprises in the very best interests of this sovereign nation and our corporation.

We will be contributing to the creation and development of new, indigenous self-sustaining enterprises in Trinidad and Tobago, and be a facilitator in making T & T the business hub of the Americas.

We will continue to aggressively develop the capacity of nationals primarily, to fill all possible positions required to do business - here and elsewhere within the global BP organisation.
