BP Teachers of Excellence
In 1996, BP Exploration (Alaska) introduced the Teachers of Excellence program in Anchorage and Fairbanks, later extending it to the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and the Kenai Peninsula.
Honorees receive a monetary award together with a commemorative plaque and are automatically qualified for our Teacher of the Year award.
Each year, panels of parents, students and education professionals assess the hundreds of nominations received to select BP Teachers of Excellence from their area. Then, four Teachers of Excellence -- one each from the Anchorage, Fairbanks, Mat-Su and Kenai Peninsula School Districts -- are honored as BP's Teachers of the Year.
