Gas-fired power
Our gas-fired power activities comprise modern combined cycle gas turbines, which typically produces 50 percent less carbon dioxide than conventional coal-fired plants. And with plentiful supplies of gas available, a natural gas power plant also takes only half as long to build as a coal-fired power station.
Alternative Energy has stakes in around five Gigawatts of gas-fired power capacity around the world, including plants in the US, Vietnam, Spain, South Korea and the UK.
Our power stations are based on latest CCGT technology and some are designed for co-generation where heat is extracted from the process and used in an industrial process such as oil refining.
