More efficient products
By 2030, the number of vehicles on the world’s roads is expected to have grown from today’s 900 million to in excess of 2.1 billion
To tackle the challenges of growing demand, varying customer requirements and environmental concern, BP’s technologists are working to improve the performance of refineries, chemical plants and emerging coal conversion technologies while making significant reductions in environmental emissions.
Major upgrades are being made to refineries to enable them to process unconventional fuels such as heavy oils. A range of conversion technologies are being developed which will transform abundant fossil fuels such as coal to high quality, clean fuels and products. Partnerships and testing in state of the art facilities are driving improvements in engine, lubricant and fuel performance to deliver the cleaner, better performing products that customers want.
