US Energy in Context

Fact book collage
Events of the past few years, including a substantial increase in the prices of various forms of energy, have underscored the need for America to develop a sound energy strategy for the future.
The aim of the US Energy in Context, which contains data and analysis from a range of independent sources, is to provide a common set of facts on which important energy decisions can be made.
As one of the United States’ largest energy producers of oil, natural gas, solar, wind and biofuels, we support an energy policy that embraces all forms of energy, both traditional and non-traditional, as well as conservation and efficiency. We understand that affordable, reliable and diverse sources of energy are critical to this economy.
Over the past five years, BP has invested over $30 billion in the US, the equivalent of our net income in this country over the same timeframe. And we expect to continue investing over $6 billion per year to deliver energy to US consumers every day for the foreseeable future.
