Cleaner fuels
BP Australia provides fuels and lubricants that seek to improve performance, including fuel economy, and therefore help to protect the environment
BP launched BP Ultimate®, its advanced performance fuel formulated to produce fewer harmful emissions, in 2000. Since then, sales of the Ultimate range of fuels have grown significantly, with BP Ultimate® now available in more than 900 outlets around the country. We are extending the availability of BP Ultimate Diesel™, a high-performance fuel designed to improve engine performance while lowering carbon monoxide, CO2 and hydrocarbon emissions.

Our ethanol unleaded blend, Unleaded 91, or e10 (containing 10% ethanol) is sold in New South Wales, where mandated requirements exist for biofuels, and Queensland. We have increased the number of sites where e10 is available in 2007-08, bringing it to a total of 185 sites. We are committed to working with government to meet and exceed targets for the supply of biofuels.
Our range of automotive diesel fuels is designed to provide excellent performance while reducing emissions. BP diesel (50 ppm) was introduced five years ahead of government requirements for reduced sulphur. In keeping with our aim of improving environmental performance, and offering these fuels in advance of legislative requirements, this fuel is now being phased out and replaced by BP 10ppm diesel, containing 10 parts per million of sulphur.

We are also a major supplier of autogas, or LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), a fuel that delivers considerable reductions in carbon dioxide in comparison to petrol.
BP’s confidence in the quality of its fuels is reflected in the BP fuel guarantee, which states that BP guarantees to customers using BP service stations that its fuels are clean, and assuming related criteria are met, will not cause fuel system problems.
