BP Shipping provides comprehensive marine assurance activity to our Australian and New Zealand business.
With a modern fleet of crude oil tankers, product tankers and LNG (liquefied natural gas) carriers, BP Shipping is committed to clean seas, safe ships and commercial success.

Our shipping business supplies oil to Bulwer Island in Queensland and Kwinana in Western Australia, and transports products to over 40 marine terminals within the region to supply markets within Australasia.

We also operate a fleet of specialist gas carriers, including the NW Shearwater, transporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the North West Shelf gas field to markets in Japan.
Key shipping activities include:

  • providing all marine assurance activity for the BP Group within Australasia
  • operating a fleet of crude oil, refined product and LNG tankers
  • chartering in third party ships for single voyages, or for medium and long term business
  • chartering out BP Shipping's ships to other oil and shipping companies for single voyages, or for term business
  • providing an industry-leading ship vetting service to maintain highest quality of third party ships used for BP business
  • providing a port clearance service to ensure compatibility of ships and their destinations, and to maintain and improve quality of receiving and discharge terminal facilities
  • supplying a ship design and operations consultancy to BP Group and BP projects with marine interests
  • being actively involved in managing the Group's reputation through involvement with industry and government forums
