Frontiers Issue 23: December 2008
In Algeria, BP is conducting a pioneering industrial-scale project for the safe, long-term storage of carbon dioxide deep below ground - a project which is enhancing industry understanding, and is also helping to set the framework to encourage the wider use of carbon dioxide capture and storage as a countermeasure against greenhouse gas emissions. In its refining business, BP has built a powerful team of world experts, supported by a new laboratory in the USA, to deliver advanced process technology to handle the changing nature of crude oil feedstocks.
In other parts of BP's business, we report on how the latest technology in remote access and equipment diagnostics is proving its worth in BP's exploration and production operations; how BP's CATIVA proprietary technology is continuing to maintain the lead in the global production of acetic acid; and we learn how BP's technologists are working closely with automobile makers to provide new lubricant formulations for the smooth running of the next generation of car transmissions.
Investment, commitment and brainpower: we hope you enjoy reading about BP's leading moves in this issue of Frontiers.
