Cusiana Processing Facility
Cusiana Processing Facility
While main offices are located in Colombian capital city, Bogotá, our field operations are entirely based in the eastern department of Casanare, distant some 200 kilometres.

After discovery, assessment of Cusiana and Cupiagua potential led to planning for two major processing facilities, which were built between 1993 and 1998 in the municipalities of Tauramena and Aguazul. Additional processing sites were subsequently installed for the fields contained in both Recetor and Piedemonte licenses.

Oil and gas production has been facilitated by the 140 wells drilled to date, in mountainous terrain, complex subsurface geology and to depths of over 15,000 feet. 106 of those wells remain active.

These wells have been delivering hydrocarbons to the processing facilities via a network of flow lines that today exceeds 400 kilometres in extension.

It is important to note that these facilities were built and are today operated by Colombian nationals, many of which are native to Casanare.

At December 2007, BP's gross oil stood at 148,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, representing 25% of Colombia's total production.

The oil itself is exported via the 871 km. Ocensa pipeline that crosses Colombia, from Casanare to the Caribbean port of Coveñas.
