Welcome to BP Toledo Refinery

What we do

BP Toledo is located in Oregon, Ohio on the western end of Lake Erie. Its location makes it especially conscious of its environmental impact. BP recently invested $235 million to bring this 160,000 barrel-per-day plant up to world-class production and environmental standards.

BP Toledo has 500 full-time employees and 200 contractors working around the clock. Having recently received the award for Outstanding Achievement in Pollution Prevention, we’ve reduced carbon dioxide and criteria air pollutant emission by more than 5,500 tons per year. We continue to push the reduction of emissions by using the ISO 14001 process to set goals and evaluate progress.
BP Toledo is in the process of enhancing the work environment at our refinery. We’ve recently invested in a state-of-the-art training center, which operates in a virtually paperless environment. Utilizing adult-based learning courses, we offer training electronically for the convenience of our people.

Over the next ten years, we’re making capital improvements at BP Toledo. We’re investing millions in new equipment and facility upgrades, including blast-proof shelters, QA/QC lab facilities and modernized administrative offices.

BP Toledo is focused on our team. With strong ties to the community and the refinery, BP Toledo employees are a close-knit group. Our goal is to make BP Toledo an even better place to work with group activities and improved service recognition.

Community

BP Toledo employees take pride in the community they call home. Employee participation in OregonFest and Dragon Boat races on the Maumee River, as well as commitments to charitable organizations and local schools, have helped BP Toledo and its employees establish a positive relationship with the local community.

BP Toledo offers the appeal of small-town Midwest living, while four major metropolitan areas are close by. This has been a quiet, family-oriented lifestyle enjoyed by generations of BP Toledo employees. From the refinery’s location in Oregon, Ohio, you’re just minutes away from Toledo, an hour from Detroit, two hours from Cleveland and four hours from Chicago.

With scenic Lake Erie near BP Toledo, there’s plenty of opportunity for boating and fishing. The Toledo metropolitan area has more than a thousand miles of hiking trails among its parks and nature preserves, making it a great place for biking, running, walking and rollerblading. All summer long you’ll find many local art fairs and neighborhood festivals. Toledo’s Museum of Art is home to a world-renowned glass collection and the Toledo Zoo is ranked among the top ten in the U.S.
