Marine Incident Investigation Team (MIIT)
The Marine Incident Investigation Team (MIIT) investigates marine incidents on behalf of BP Shipping.
The team delivers timely and relevant findings based on complete incident investigations, which can be translated into corrective actions that help improve both personal and process safety in BP Shipping.
Members of the team are trained to a high standard, using the UK Marine Accident Investigation Board as a benchmark.
The team also communicates with internal BP and external organisations to share lessons and improve performance.
Investigations follow internationally recognised processes for major incident investigation, and incorporate both BP group and International Maritime Organisation (IMO) protocols.
