BP’s charity work in Russia focuses on supporting sick children, who need care and support. We would like to help them cope with their difficulties and improve their lives.
Priority areas for us include - buying medicine, supporting the diagnosis of complex illnesses, and providing education for children undergoing long-term hospital treatment. The lives and futures of young patients depend on these things.
In Russia, we support the Podari Zhizn and Vo Blago foundations, which have saved the lives of many children, and which have been working for a long time on projects of great value to society. We hope that through our joint efforts we can change the lives of many children for the better.
Support for Podari Zhizn foundationBP pays a share of the medication costs for children suffering from cancer-related diseases. Each year, the Podari Zhizn foundation spends tens of millions of rubles on antifungal drugs, which are essential for sustaining the lives of children suffering from blood diseases. This area of the foundation’s work requires continual support from society and businesses.
We provide support for the foundation’s volunteer programmes focusing on distance learning for young patients, and development of their creative abilities. Children undergoing lengthy treatment in hospitals unfortunately have to put their schooling on hold. We want them to continue their development during treatment, and not fall behind in their school education. It’s also easier for children to cope with their illnesses when they have the chance to focus on other things.
Support for the Vo Blago foundationWe support the Healthy Generation project that the foundation has been working on since its creation. The main aim of the project is to provide medical aid to children who, for whatever reason, are unable to receive it. Teams of highly qualified specialists travel around various towns and cities of Russia, and provide diagnostic check-ups for orphans and children from low-income or dysfunctional families, as well as for large families. This gives a large number of children access to professional medical care that they would otherwise not have been able to receive.
As part of its work with the foundation, BP provides funds for the purchase of costly mobile equipment needed for the swift diagnosis of complex illnesses.
