Emerging Business & Ventures (EB&V) creates insights and develops options to enhance the long-term value of BP, for both its oil and gas assets as well as its low-carbon businesses.
Companies that are able to adapt, stay ahead of the curve and create the necessary change rather than simply reacting to it, stay healthy. We use our venture experience to identify technologies that might become of strategic interest to BP. Our focus is on innovation in its broadest sense: new technologies, new business models, new geographies and alternative ways of thinking.
We carefully invest in early-stage businesses and in emerging carbon market projects and mechanisms. The first of these enables us to back entrepreneurial start-ups in their development and understand how their products and technologies might interact with our businesses and long term strategy. The second allows us to offset our carbon footprint.
