Carbon Solutions helps put BP on the front foot by applying carbon expertise to our hydrocarbons’ operations to generate and protect value for our core business. Our areas of focus include:- Carbon management and reduction

Much of our expertise has evolved over the last 12 years within BP’s Group Technology and Alternative Energy areas as well as from a decade’s experience in carbon capture and storage (CCS). Today, we are applying this expertise across BP’s portfolio: upstream, downstream and in alternatives.
Carbon mitigation will shape the future of our industry, so it is essential that we are at the forefront of innovative approaches to reducing our C02 emissions, whether that’s in technology, policy or markets. Carbon sustainability is about extending the life of our oil and gas operations, as well as developing low-carbon alternatives and backing innovative technologies.
Our approach, whether in carbon abatement technology or in carbon markets, sets out to protect the existing value of our hydrocarbons’ business through carbon management and reduction roadmaps, while also creating long-term value by thinking innovatively about those reduction options.
