The UK’s Royal Air Force (RAF) is marking it’s 100th anniversary this year.
Can you believe we have worked with the RAF for eight decades? Our earliest record dates back to 1927, when we fuelled a twin-engined Vickers Victoria which escorted the inaugural Imperial Airways’ flight through the Middle East.
We are getting involved in the RAF Museum’s RAF Centenary celebrations by sponsoring the new Collections Care Technician (CCT) post at the RAF Museum in London. The CCT does a vital job – he looks after the RAF Museum’s world class collection of aircraft, which spans more than a century of aviation history and includes aircraft from WWI and WWII like the Spitfire and Lancaster.
This is especially important as the museum is undergoing a transformation ahead of the centenary celebrations – we are looking forward to seeing how it turns out!
“BP’s education programme in the UK is all about inspiring young people to gain a better understanding of how important the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) are for our industry and for their futures. Sponsoring roles like this one demonstrates how Air BP is bringing this education agenda to life in the aviation industry.”Paul Augé, General Manager Air BP UK and France
