EBACE2019 How Sustainable Alternative Jet Fuels took centre stage

The biggest European business aviation event landed in Geneva from 21st – 23rd May. EBACE – The European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition played host to 13,000 visitors and 400 exhibitors from almost every aspect of business aviation.

Sustainable alternative jet fuels (SAJF) were a real focus as never before. This year follows on from the successful launch at EBACE2018 of the Sustainable Alternative Jet Fuel (SAJF) Guide by the SAJF consortium. This aims to encourage operators and aircraft manufacturers to use sustainable aviation fuels.

Air BP issued a press release detailing how we offered sustainable aviation fuel to general and business aviation customers and aircraft manufacturers at Stockholm Arlanda (ARN/ESSA) airport in Sweden and Caen Carpiquet (CFR/LFRK) airport in France flying into EBACE2019. The fuel was produced by leading renewable fuels producer, Neste, and supplied by Air BP. Thorbjorn Larsson, CEO Air BP Nordics, was talking about the initiative to a packed audience during the SAJF panel discussion.

We were excited to host the World’s best pilot Martin Sonka, who is the current Red Bull Air Race Champion. Martin was a headline speaker at the FDM (flight data/performance monitoring and review) session, giving an insightful talk on flight safety and its importance when flying at the absolute boundaries. He also played host to a roundtable of truly international journalists who were keen to know how fuel gave a critical edge during a race.

Our Air BP stand was transformed for the drink’s reception on the Tuesday where Martin and Amanda Jones kicked off proceedings with a light-hearted interview. We even found out Martin’s scariest moment when he had to manage a safe landing after an engine failure. Guests had a chance to meet, take pictures and even try their luck at beating Martin on the Red Bull Air Race game. To catch Martin’s highlights from the day, watch this quick video.
