Last month marked a significant milestone in our investment with Fulcrum BioEnergy – pioneers in the development and production of low-carbon jet fuel. On 16 May, construction began on Fulcrum’s Sierra BioFuels Plant in Nevada.
Once complete the facility will be the nation’s first commercial-scale plant converting municipal solid waste into low-carbon, renewable transportation fuel.
When will it open? Fulcrum Sierra will begin commercial operations in early 2020. It will convert around 175,000 tons of household garbage into more than 10.5 million gallons of fuel each year.
Once up and running the facility will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 80%, as well as boost the local economy. We’re excited to be supporting this initiative and helping customers meet their lower carbon goals.
